Program Overview
RYSA offers soccer players ages 8 to 12 years of age (U9 thru U12) a Developmental Program. See attachment on the Developmental Program. Developmental teams will play in locally run leagues such as: Central Oregon Soccer League (COSL) in the Fall and Bend Metro Parks and Recreation in the Spring. Developmental teams will have two practices weekly run by RYSA Coaches. Developmental Teams will be balanced if two teams are offered in an age bracket and the emphasis will be on player development as opposed to winning.
RYSA offers soccer players ages 13 to 14 years of age (U13 and U14) a soccer experience that is above recreational with fun and intense training sessions with at least USSF E licensed coaches. Training sessions will focus on skill development of basic technical skills such as: passing, collecting and trapping, dribbling and ball control, and shooting. Tactical aspects of the game of soccer are introduced at this age to include: 1. defensive tactics such as first defender, second defender and 2. offensive tactics such as: attacking, shape (width, height and depth). Teams at this age will need to travel to play in either the KidSports league based out of Eugene, Oregon. Average of 3 away trips per season.
RYSA is closely linked to both Redmond High School Soccer Programs boys and girls. RYSA strives to offer soccer players serious about developing their skills a great step towards playing competitive high school soccer. RYSA expects all parents to take an active volunteering role with the club. All RYSA players and parents can expect to volunteer during the Central Oregon ShootOut (Father’s Day Weekend). This tournament is the clubs only major fundraiser. Parents and players can plan to attend this fun event and to volunteer during this weekend. Parent volunteers are also needed during the regular seasons both Fall and Spring.
RYSA holds tryouts for teams in May to form the next years teams. Teams formed in May will be for the following Fall and Spring Seasons. Players wanting to play need to plan to attend tryouts. Players may be added to teams mid season only if a slot for a player becomes available. The Head Coach of the correct gender is the contact if wanting to inquire about a possible opening on a team.
